Cleaning Universal agent versions

Posted by on Nov 24, 2012 in ITM6 | No Comments

There is a bug in the Universal agent code from version 6.2 which means that the processing of the MDL files is not the same as it was in previous versions. This means that you will have different versions of the Universal Agent data providers if you update the MDL files in 6.2 and upwards.

Cleaning up Universal agent version numbers

When you change the universal agent the version number of the Data-provider changes. You can reset this back to 00 by following a simple procedure.

  • Stop the Universal agents on all the systems that are running the custom monitoring you are resetting

On the hub TEMS perform the following

  • Change to directory /<tems directory>/IBM/ITM/tables/HUB_<HUB NAME>
  • Find all the files to remove
    • find . -name “*<ITM code>*”
    • This will return for example
    • ./ATTRLIB/ACPATR00
    • ./RKDSCATL/ACPCAT00
  • You should then remove these files
  • Restart the hub TEMS

On the Remote TEMS perform the following

  • Perform the same actions as on the HUB TEMS and then restart

On the TEPS server

  • Change to directory D:\Tivoli\IBM\ITM\CNPS
  • Delete the <ITM code>odi<version> files e.g. ACPODI00, ACPODI01
  • Restart the TEPS service

On the ITM Agent

  • Change to directory <CANDLEHOME>/<INTERP/um/work
  • Find all the files to remove
    • find . -name “*<ITM code>*”
    • This will return for example
    • ./ACPCAT00
    • ./ACPATR00
    • ./ACPODI00
    • ./kumawACP
  • Remove these files
  • Restart the agent
